I am not only one of the founders of Beeminds, but also a sports fanatic and data nerd rolled into one. My days start with dumbbells ánd data, and often end with my family at home. In between, I build smart solutions for clients with the team and help colleagues along.

Early start with dates and dumbbells

At 5:45 a.m. the alarm clock rings. I immediately put on my sportswear and check my data first. Through my Whoop I check how I slept and how fit I am for the day.
No joke: I really like that. I get motivation from data, especially when I see trends in rise or fall. And secretly it feels extra good when my gut feeling turns out to be right.
After that I spend an hour at the gym. I’m training for a HYROX.

Morning focus in the office

I get to the office around 7:30. That means I often have the empire to myself for a while. A perfect time to get rid of emails or finish jobs that were left over yesterday. Around 9 a.m. we have the stand-up with the whole team. Just tuning in to where everyone is, who is working on what and what’s going on. I find that moment of connection important and simply enjoyable.

Building smart dashboards together

Then I dive into a client assignment for SportCity. Together with colleague Selimhan, I work on a marketing dashboard in which we combine data from different sources: Google, internal marketing data, and more. Using Intelligenthive®, we are building a model in Microsoft Fabric that SportCity can use to oversee their entire marketing journey. I focus on the modeling and structure, Seliman picks up the reporting in Power BI.

“The afternoon is often a mix of concentration, shifting gears and creativity. And that suits me just fine.”

Always room for ad hoc business and ping pong

In between, all sorts of things happen. Colleagues blowing in with a question, an unexpected call, a short spar session on HR or marketing matters. And, not unimportantly, a game of pinpong in between to keep my head fresh.

Have lunch and catch up

Around noon we have lunch together. Sometimes we take something with us, sometimes we order something. At the table we talk about work, but just as easily about the weekend, vacations or the children.

From customer work to internal improvements

In the afternoon, I continue working on reviewing a white paper we are going to distribute. I also call a new client and prepare a demo. The afternoon is often a mix of concentration, shifting gears and creativity. And that suits me just fine.

Time for family and soccer field

At 2 p.m., it’s time to go home. On days when I can, I pick up our three children from school. Then I have nice time with them and take them to sports clubs such as soccer and judo.

Eating together

In the evening, we cook varied meals, thanks to my wife, who tightly controls the weekly schedule. Today, naan with soy sauce tempeh is on the menu. Our children eat surprisingly well with us; even mushrooms are no longer a problem. After dinner we watch Youth News together and then the kids go to bed.

Done, cards and ready for tomorrow

What about me? I often end the day preparing for tomorrow. Packing bags, getting sports gear ready, just going over the schedule. Tonight we are playing another game of Clever 4 Ever. Highly recommended!

What makes my workday successful?

I think it’s important that work is also fun, so part of a successful day is when there is laughter while we do really fat things. When I’ve been able to build something that works. Whether that’s a tight data model, a satisfied customer or a colleague I was able to help. And if I also had time to spend at home. Then the picture is right.
