In my role, I am responsible for delivery and collaboration with clients. I set up scalable and efficient processes, improve our services and make sure we can grow together with my colleagues. My day starts six-thirty. My alarm clock never actually goes off anymore. Ollie, our two-year-old son, decides when the day begins. My girlfriend and I divide the tasks in the morning like a well-oiled machine. Today I take Ollie away to daycare.

Breakfast in the car

I made six cheese sandwiches. I eat these in the car on the way to work. During the drive of about 45 minutes, I listen to the podcast Young Investing.

First to catch up with the team

Around a quarter to nine I arrive at the office. First a cup of tea. Then I briefly check my mail, chats and tickets. At nine o’clock a fixed moment of the day begins: the stand-up with the team. Fifteen minutes in which everyone briefly explains what he or she is doing. For me, that moment is extra valuable. In my role, it helps me keep an overview of the delivery and projects. It is a way for me to quickly hear what everyone is working on. Where are things going well, where should we pay attention and where is there perhaps something to celebrate? It’s also an instant practical moment. If I need someone later in the day, I can coordinate that right there.

Working with customers

The rest of the morning is often filled with client appointments and internal consultations. Today I am working with our client Swinkels. There, the Beeminds team is working on a sales foundation. We bring all sales data from different systems together in the Intelligenthive®. The goal is that employees will soon be able to build their own data products on this: self-service BI. In addition, we are building something extra. We are also developing an agent with which employees can ask questions about their data via Teams. Then, for example, you can ask questions about sales figures or have charts created, or Chat With Your Data. During a stand-up with the customer today, we discuss progress. In Jira, we look together at tasks, roadblocks and planning.

Time for lunch

Around noon, it’s time for lunch. My lunch is not hard to guess. Those six sandwiches from the morning have a sequel. In the afternoon, I just eat six again. Lunch at the office is especially enjoyable. Just half an hour without work. Conversations range from vacations to world politics and everything in between. Today the weather is nice so I also take a walk outside with some colleagues.

“My afternoons look different every day. In my role, many different subjects come together. Sometimes I work on internal processes to properly manage the company’s growth. Other times I am working on internal projects such as a new tool we are implementing. Today I am preparing a Microsoft partner audit and working on a Statement of Work for a customer. The variety is exactly what appeals to me so much in my role.

The best moment of the day

At the end of the afternoon I get back in the car to go home. When I open the door at home I suddenly hear “papaaaaa” and Ollie comes running to me. That moment is, of course, the highlight of the day for me. Tonight we are eating potatoes with beans and a veggie meat. Once Ollie is asleep, the second part of the evening begins. We are making a large built-in closet. This has taken a lot of evenings but it is now almost finished and the result is great!

“When we bring something live, complete a sprint or take a big step. But there is another thing that makes a day really good. When I can complete an issue completely. A project, a process or something internal that we had been working on for a while. And of course there are also the moments with clients. When we bring something live, complete a sprint or take a big step. That’s when it really feels like we’re moving forward together.

I work as Head of Operations at Beeminds.
